Quick Start

After installation, here's how to get started:

1. Log In

Navigate to http://localhost:8400 and log in with your credentials (or demo/demo for the demo account).

2. Set Up Categories

Go to the Categories page and create your spending categories:

  • Groceries, Rent, Utilities, Entertainment, Dining Out, Transportation, etc.

3. Import Transactions

  1. Export a CSV from your bank's website
  2. Go to ImportUpload CSV
  3. Bamboo Money auto-detects your bank format
  4. Review the preview and confirm import
  5. Transactions are auto-categorized by any existing rules

4. Create Budgets

  1. Go to BudgetsNew Budget
  2. Set amounts for each category
  3. Watch progress bars fill as you spend

5. Track Net Worth

  1. Go to Net WorthAdd Account
  2. Enter each account with its balance and group (liquid/investment/retirement/liability/other)
  3. Update balances monthly to build history
  4. View metrics and charts on the net worth page

6. Explore with the Chatbot

Click the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner and ask:

  • "What did I spend the most on this month?"
  • "Show me my spending trend"
  • "Am I on track with my budget?"

7. View Cash Flow

Navigate to Cash Flow to see the Sankey diagram showing how income flows through your categories.
